Bruce Hutchins

Started playing snare drum in 3rd grade through weekly lessons in school. (4 guys in the room with practice pads on their laps.) Progressed to drum set after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan show. I put together a 4 piece kit by saving birthday & Christmas money in addition to cutting numerous lawns at $2/ea. Garnered my 1st gig as I qualified by having a drum set. My mom would drive me to rehearsal & I could play “Wipeout”. Numerous bands followed from Surf to Psychedelic music & a few bands writing original tunes. Spent a few years doing live sound at club & concert venues in DE, NJ, MD & Philly. In the mid 80’s I moved to upstate NY. Past projects in NY have included Panama LTD, The New Lazy Boys, Trio Mio & The Thunder Ridge Band.  Also, numerous sub gigs with others including Lex Grey & The Urban Cowboys, Jordan Stoner & Doug Yoel’s Sometime Sinners & The Bobcats.

I’m happy tobe invited to the little studio in the woods to be a part of The Dirt Road Smugglers.
