Skip Owen

At age nine, I was sitting around the campfire while a guy was playing guitar and singing corny camp songs. He handed me his guitar and showed me some chords. Back at home, I grabbed my sister’s Sears Silvertone guitar, (she never played it), and played it till my fingers bled.

By the early 70’s and through the 80’s, I was playing guitar and singing with folk groups, and playing sax, keyboards or bass in classic rock bands. By the early 90’s, I was back to acoustic music and playing folk and a little bluegrass. Over the past decade, I’ve been performing as a solo artist, focusing more on my favorite songs. Including an eclectic mix of material from Clapton, Petty, The Dead, CCR, CSN, and old time music from artists like Son House, Muddy Waters, Gershwin, Jimmy Cox, and more.

I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such luminaries as Amy Helm, and Luther Dickerson, (North Mississippi Allstars).

Then one day I was walking down a Dirt Road and was kidnapped by some Smugglers.
